U.S. fast-food chain Burger King, which opened its first restaurant in Cambodia at Phnom Penh’s airport last month, plans to open another in the city before the end of the year, a representative of the company holding the franchise for the chain said Friday.

Burger King to Open at Phnom Penh Airport

Advertisements have gone up at the Phnom Penh International Air­port bearing the famous Burger King logo, with a message saying that the chain is “Coming soon.” The outlet is going up on the perimeter of the airport terminal build­ing, next to the existing Pizza Company and Dairy Queen outlets.

Chang Bunleang, operation manager and one of the founders of Brown, was nominated by the US Embassy in Phnom Penh to participate in the International Leadership Program, a business event initiated by US President Barak Obama three years ago. The program is aimed at linking young entrepreneurs in small and medium-size enterprises from countries around the world with US businesspeople. Before departuring this week, the 27-year-old took the time to talk to the Post’s Rann Reuy about his business and nomination opportunity.

At the request of the Swedish government, Cambodia police on Thursday arrested Gottfrid Svartholm Warg a Swedish national and co-founder of the popular files-sharing website The Pirate Bay, who had been living in Phnom Penh to avoid serving a prison sentence back home  for online privacy.

While Cambodia and Sweden do not have an extradition treaty, police said yesterday that they were waiting for court documents from Sweden and would then consider what action to take regarding 27-year-old Mr. Svartholm Warg, who is being held at the Interior Ministry."

“We followed the request from the Swedish government. I think he committed a cyber-crime in verdict of the Swedish government,” said Kirth Chantharith, National Police spokesman.
